About the festival
Bhaubeej is the last day of Diwali, on Kartik Shukla Dwitiya. A sister does the aukshan for her brother, and he gives her a gift. It's a sweet way to end the festival.

In many homes the sister cooks a special meal for her brother. The owalni is the gift the brother gives. Married sisters come to their maher, so the house is full of people and chatter.

The story of Yama and Yamuna
Yama's sister Yamuna invited him home many times, but he was always busy. One Dwitiya, he finally went.
Yamuna did his aukshan and fed him sweets. Pleased, Yama granted that a brother whose sister does his aukshan on this day will have nothing to fear.
