Kaldarshi has no account and no ads. Your place, your searches and your reminders stay on your phone. The app does send anonymous usage counts, such as which screens are opened. They are on by default, and you can switch them off in More, under Privacy.
What stays on your phone
- Your location, if you allow it. Kaldarshi can use your phone's location once, when you ask it to find your place, to work out sunrise, sunset and moonrise times. The coordinates are used on your device and are never transmitted. You can instead pick a city from a list and never grant location permission.
- Your choices. Your language, your chosen place, your recent searches, your reminders and a copy of the calendar are saved on your device so the app works without internet.
- Reminders. They are notifications set on your phone. They are not sent to or from any server.
Anonymous usage counts
Kaldarshi uses Google's Firebase Analytics to count how the app is used, so I can see which parts people use and which they do not. Google processes this for me.
- What is counted: which screens are opened, which festival or day is opened, which language and colour theme are chosen, which reminder times are picked, whether notification permission was granted or declined, whether a share card was made, and how long the first calculation for a place took (in broad bands).
- What is never counted: your place, your coordinates, your time zone, what you search for, or anything you type.
- What goes with the counts: a random identifier that Firebase makes for this installation of the app, and the device type, system version and app version. Google also works out a rough area from your internet address, as every online service does. It is not your location from the phone, and I do not ask for it. There is no advertising identifier, and nothing is used for ads or sold.
- Turning it off: open More, then Privacy, and switch off "Share anonymous usage counts". Collection stops at once.
What the app does not do
- It does not ask you to create an account or give a name, email address or phone number.
- It does not show ads and contains no advertising SDK or advertising identifier.
- It does not track you across other apps or websites.
- It does not sell or share your data with anyone else, other than Google processing the counts above on my behalf.
Deleting your data
Your place, searches, reminders and calendar are only on your device. Clearing the app's storage in your phone's settings, or uninstalling the app, deletes them. The usage counts are tied to a random installation identifier, not to your name or any account, so I cannot tell which counts are yours. Uninstalling stops new counts, and reinstalling gives the app a new identifier. If you want anything else removed, write to the address below.
Children
Kaldarshi is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this changes, for example if a feature needs a server or a new kind of count is added, this page will be updated before the app is, and the date above will change.
